This year, we continue to build on our foundation and strengthen our ongoing commitments to reconciliation. Building genuine and sustainable relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community remains one of the main focuses of our 2023 RAP.
We recognise that we have exceptional duties and responsibilities as an Early Childhood Service as it is every Australian child's right to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, cultures, ways of being and doing.
A collaborative approach with our sister kindergartens, Tulip Street Private Kindergarten and Sandringham Private Kindergarten ensures that we capture multiple perspectives and demonstrate inclusiveness. We share information and network on common initiatives to help spread our RAP commitments to the wider community.
We continue to educate all staff, and educators about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures to develop our confidence and capacity to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our curriculum holistically. The reconciliation movement is always evolving, changing, and alive. The more we learn and understand, the better we can stand up and stand for reconciliation.
We are committed to the 5 dimensions of reconciliation
•Race relation •Equality and equity •institutional integrity •historical acceptance •unity
We share a vision of a reconciled Australia that is fair and provides equal and equitable educational opportunities for all.
