VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is to deepen our knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures by working with our community to build respectful relationships. These relationships will occur through deep listening, learning and connection with the local Peramangk community.

Together, let’s build knowledge of the past and present to form strong relationships with mutual trust and respect. As a centre we believe it is important to continue to develop our understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures. Our RAP will increase the opportunities for all people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to have a sense of belonging in the community.

We will continue to involve families and community members in our RAP direction and to

engage with and actively involve local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and services. We aim to make inclusion the basis of our workplace environment and professional practice.

We believe that our Reconciliation Action Plan should be implemented with commitment and based on an active acknowledgement of the Traditional Owners of the Land that we work, live and play on. We will expand our understanding of the needs, interests and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families. We actively engage with the cultural diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, exploring these themes within our centre. With our RAP we hope to create an inclusive space for all people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families, and to foster opportunities for all to become more connected with the community and have a sense of belonging.
