At Peak Sports and Learning Mount Terry, we deeply value learning from and listening to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with particular respect for the Dharawal and Wodi Wodi communities in the local area. We understand that reconciliation is about fostering respectful relationships between First Nations peoples and the wider Australian community, and that such collaboration is vital for promoting equity, fairness, and justice within a reconciled society. Reconciliation is a central focus of our program. We recognise the importance of positive role modeling and aim to teach children how to work together to build a united community that respects both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians on the reconciliation journey. As a centre, we are committed to deepening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultures, and perspectives. We create and maintain a culturally safe, welcoming and equitable environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all people feel respected. By building and maintaining strong relationships with First Nations peoples, we ensure that their knowledge and perspectives are meaningfully embedded into our programs, practices, and everyday learning experiences.
