At Glen Iris Road Uniting Kindergarten, we support collaboration between First Nations people, and Australians from all cultures and walks of life within our community. Through this collaboration we strive to ensure an understanding of the different perspectives and beliefs, of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all Australians, and to ensure that all people, animals, and the Land are all treated with respect.
We commit to seeking ongoing opportunities for learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, perspectives and caring for Country, through connections with local Elders. By encouraging curiosity and questioning, and by embedding First Nations perspectives into the curriculum, we believe the children, staff, and the extended community can begin to walk together on the journey towards reconciliation.
