At C&K Bald Hills Community Kindergarten our vision for reconciliation is to offer a culturally safe early education environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives are respectfully embedded in everyday teaching and learning experiences. Our Kindy recognizes the rich diversity of cultures and identities of First Nations Peoples, and that this diversity is to be celebrated.
At C&K Bald Hills, we play and learn on Turrbul Land. We acknowledge that teaching and learning has taken place on Country for more than 60 000 years, and that supporting children's connection to Country involves children, families and educators connecting with Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to listen and hear the stories that have been told over generations.
We acknowledge that there is a complex history of injustices and inequities faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. At C&K Bald Hills Community Kindergarten, the team of educators is committed to engaging in professional learning and engaging with Elders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, networks, colleagues and families in order to build on understandings of histories and cultures to improve teaching practices with a strength based, empowering and meaningful approach.
Through engaging children, families, educators, and community in Reconciliation Actions, we build meaningful two-way relationships between non-Indigenous Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. By honouring First Nations Peoples' histories, languages, perspectives, and connection to Country in our curriculum and daily practices, it deepens everyone's learning.
