Our vision for reconciliation at Aldinga Kinder Haven is to create a culturally safe, inclusive and respectful environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and all children, families and the wider community, experience a strong sense of belonging, being and becoming.
We are committed to walking together with the local First Nations community in the spirit of reconciliation, ensuring all individuals feel seen, heard and valued, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, identities and perspectives meaningfully reflected in our programs, acknowledgements, resources and everyday practices
We recognise our ongoing responsibility as educators to build our cultural competence and to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in meaningful and authentic ways. We are committed to learning and teaching the true histories of Australia, fostering respect for the enduring cultures, knowledge systems and contributions of First Nations peoples.
Through intentional teaching and culturally responsive practices, we create opportunities for children to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across all learning outcomes.
We honour the Kaurna people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and play, and we are committed to embedding Kaurna language and perspectives into our daily practices. By doing so, we support children to develop respect for diversity, a sense of responsibility and an understanding of their place in the world.
Through this ongoing commitment, we aim to nurture children who are confident, respectful and active participants in building a more just and reconciled future.
