Penrose Kindergarten

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Penrose Kindergarten, our vision is for reconciliation to be an ongoing journey of acquiring knowledge and deeper understanding, and a mutual respect and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our children, families and educators will develop a deeper understanding about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Land. Our families will develop an understanding and appreciation about our why, and will be part of the planning process as together we work towards achieving a greater understanding about the importance of equality, equity, inclusion, anti-bias, cultural safety and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and perspectives at our service and in the wider community. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and cultures will be very visible in our programs every day, and educators will engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to understand pedagogies to inform our teaching practice and to ensure we are respectfully teaching through culture.  We will, most of all, develop a greater understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, respectfully passing our knowledge onto our children, educators, families and fellow community members of Penrose Kindergarten. The teaching team will continuously work towards providing a culturally safe service that promotes inclusion, equity, respect and a shared passion for reconciliation.
