At Noarlunga Community Children’s Centre we acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as First Nation Peoples, and value the importance of their knowledges, languages, connections, communities and voices within our service, communities and the wider world. We aim to provide welcoming and inclusive environments where all families, children and educators feel seen and heard. We will reach out to Elders and First Nation organisations within the community to ensure that all voices are a part of our service’s decisions. We encourage a deep understanding around reconciliation and will embed these practices into the daily routines, lives and experiences within all our learning environments. We promote education, understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and histories for our children, families and communities. We acknowledge the vital importance of The Uluru Statement from the Heart and the essential need of First Nation Voices within the decision making of the local community and within the country. Reconciliation is built through relationships, respect and opportunities. We recognise and engage with our shared histories, stories and futures. Relationships and trust are instrumental in achieving outcomes in reconciliation and we are committed to investing our long-term efforts and collaboration in building and maintaining relationships within First Nations communities. We recognise the strength of communities and seek to identify where and how we can build our own capacity to realise these changes, both as individuals and as a collective.
