We believe that the future wellbeing of all Australians depends on fostering respectful and positive relationships and co-existence of the rights between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people. To achieve this, we must consider how to utilise tools within social justice and equity education practice, and how they can be used to address the ongoing impacts of colonisation and current and past policies that continue to negatively impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families today. We will work together to achieve a common goal of trust, understanding and respect by making meaningful connections with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, Traditional Owners, community groups, organisations and community members. This will continue be an ongoing process that will be at the forefront of our centre's goals and visions. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and perspectives will be respectfully embedded into our curriculum planning, providing opportunities for all children and families to engage with diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. We will foster a respectful and inclusive environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families, which we believe will also benefit all children, families, and educators. Little Gumboots is on Gulgnay Country. We are committed to learning about, acknowledging, and where appropriate, respectfully sharing the stories, songs and sites which are particular to this area. We will continue to demonstrating our respect for, and celebrating the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges, cultures, languages, customs, stories, and connections to place and Country. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ knowledges are valued here, and we have a responsibility to support our educators and families to develop a deeper understanding and awareness of this knowledge and reclamation of rights in our community.
