VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Bella Grace Early Learning Centre Aroona, we believe that reconciliation acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia. Our vision is to see a reconciled Australia, which is built on understanding, respect and hope.

We strive to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges into our everyday practices and curriculum. We recognise that by respectfully teaching young children, educators and families about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories, we can support ongoing connections with, and learning from, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the local community about stories, artefacts, language, art, dance and music.

We recognise this can only happen by establishing and maintaining respectful relationships with community members within the local and wider communities. We will walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to create culturally safe environments, embracing and sharing our reconciliation journey which is built on respect, knowledge, empathy and hope for a brighter future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, families, children and communities.
