We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and as the Custodians of the Lands on which our early childhood services are offered. We, Albert Waterways Children’s Centre, will provide an inclusive, respectful, inspiring, and positive educational environment for children and their families from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Educators acknowledge, embrace and reflect on the histories, traditions, beliefs, diverse language groups and ways of life to create a culturally safe environment for all children and families to experience belonging and connection.
We shall continue to work to open minds and create a future of equality and equity, understanding and opportunity for all. We aim to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our centre philosophy and daily practices and see it as a shared responsibility amongst all Early childhood professionals. Through greater understanding, sharing knowledge and building relationships both within our Centre, and with the wider community, we shall strive to contribute to Australia’s reconciliation journey.
