VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Wilston-Grange Community Kindy, we believe reconciliation is about bringing everyone together, with mutual respect and understanding. We acknowledge the contributions  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have made to education of young children and recognise their continuing contributions. We recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures have existed long before our story began. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians. As we move forward in creating a nation, it must be strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are here to be open to learning, unlearning and relearning with the  children whilst incorporating a sense of being, belonging and becoming at our centre. We respect and celebrate the cultural heritages of all families, educators and children within our service, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. We will continue to, respectfully promote reconciliation by actively introducing children to diverse learning experiences by ensuring we are inclusive of all cultures, celebrate days of significance,  important days at the centre,  and share the true histories of Australia. . Our aim is to ensure that everyone is brought together and feels part of our community and acknowledge the importanceof Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. To ensure we are working towards an inclusive centre and guide us on our reconciliation journey, we are committed to continuing to strengthen our relationships with the Traditional Custodians of this Land, the Yuggera and Turrbul People and with members of the community and around the country. We will continue to build partnerships with Elders, educators, children and families, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We will continue to pursue a  develop a deeper understanding of our roles regarding reconciliation and learn with children, which  will promote the visibility of our centre and how we are working together for a bright future.
