VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Little Joey's we declare our commitment to reconciliation and building reciprocal relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognize that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have many different cultures, languages and lore and we are committed to being respectful and working in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities both local and distant.

We understand the tense history, the discrimination and atrocities that have taken place on this Country and the intragenerational trauma that has been inflicted on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and we acknowledge the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. We believe that the best way to heal and reconcile is to work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to build healthy, inclusive, and sustainable communities through providing a culturally safe, rich, and proud learning environment.

Through acknowledging the strong connections to the Land that the Wurundjeri people have, we are committed to respecting and caring for the Land alongside Wurundjeri people.  We believe that instilling this sense of connection and respect within all members of our service community   is a crucial step to achieving true reconciliation in Australia.

We believe that for true reconciliation to be achieved it must begin in early childhood.
