At Mildura Early Learning Centre, we will continue to respectively include local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and histories. We recognise reconciliation as paramount to the nation and work towards this by building strong respectful relationships between non-Indigenous people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our vision encompasses building and deepening strong connections with the local Latji Latji, Kureinji and Barkindji peoples, to learn with them, work alongside them and strengthen our understanding of the Country in which we live.
We acknowledge the importance of respectfully embedding First Nations peoples’ knowledge and understanding within our daily practices and pedagogical approach. We recognise our position to uphold an inclusive environment where every child culturally feels safe and secure.
Our educators respect and are inclusive of each child’s cultural beliefs and identities including the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and perspectives.
The Mildura Early Learning Centre Reconciliation Action Plan underpins our commitment to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities on a set of actions that will demonstrate respect, build relationships, and provide opportunities. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan, we will further our journey of promoting reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians in the learning environment, around the centre and with the wider community.
