Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia where respect is instinctive, diversity is celebrated, and every child grows up with a deep sense of belonging and responsibility to Country and community.
At Geelong West Kindergarten, our vision for reconciliation is grounded in Connection, Place, and Learning.
We envision a community where children, educators, and families walk together in truth-telling, respect, and unity, honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories. Through genuine Connection, we commit to building respectful relationships with the Wadawurrung community and embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander perspectives into our everyday interactions, celebrations, and curriculum.
We recognise Place as a living classroom. Our outdoor spaces will reflect First Nations knowledge and care for Country through native plantings, cultural symbols, and spaces that invite reflection and storytelling. We aim to create environments that are welcoming, culturally safe, and deeply connected to the land on which we learn and play.
Through ongoing Learning, we will nurture curiosity, cultural awareness, and truth-telling. We will support children and staff to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and perspectives, ensuring reconciliation is a continuous journey embedded in our everyday, our pedagogy, and our hearts.
