Yarralea Children's Centre staff, families and children are committed to reconciliation with all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their communities and to the Wurundjeri People on whose Lands our centre stands.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the oldest living continuous culture, they have lived on this Land for more than 40,000 years. Yarralea Children’s Centre acknowledges this and the union, respect and intimate knowledge they have with and for the land and animals.
We honour and learn alongside children about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and contemporary cultures. All members of our centre community learn and share their understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with their families and communities.
We continue to develop an understanding of the injustices that continue to impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and our role in driving reconciliation. We believe true reconciliation can be achieved when all Australians understand and acknowledge our history and contribute to a united future where the cultures, and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is valued and integral to Australia's identify.
We would like acceptance, understanding and respect to be part of the reconciliation process. We commit ourselves to actively work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for reconciliation and justice.
We acknowledge past and continuing injustices and atrocities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
