Annie Dennis Children's Centre and its community are committed to ongoing reconciliation and further strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and all other Australians. .
Annie Dennis will engage with Elders and First Nations peoples to teach children about their cultures, languages, knowledge and the Dreaming. At Annie Dennis, we will encourage the community and children to become allies and build respectful relationships with First Nations Peoples. This includes their diverse cultures, customs and languages. Annie Dennis will provide an age-appropriate, nurturing and inclusive environment, that supports children to understand the devastating impact colonisation has had on First Nations Peoples. Using methods such as literature and storytelling from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our community, this helps us illustrate the inequities, stolen lands, and cultural impacts this has had on First Nations peoples.
Annie Dennis strives to be an early learning educational space that provides an anti bias, culturally responsive and emotionally safe learning environment by welcoming Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous children, families and educators, to explore participate and engage fully. Through this, we intend to achieve a united early learning educational community.
Always was Always will be Aboriginal Land. Sovereignty was never ceded.
