Bluebird Way Child and Family Centre

At Bluebird Way Child and Family Centre, reconciliation means building respect, understanding, and building positive relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians.  We are committed to continuing to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and respecting their histories, traditions, and perspectives. We create an inclusive environment where all children and families feel valued and supported.  

We aim to work with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, listen, and learn together. Through building genuine and ongoing relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, Elders and Traditional Custodians by seeking their guidance, inviting them to be part of our education community, and learning from their perspectives and experiences.  

We support efforts to Close the Gap by promoting fairness, inclusion, and better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.  

Through everyday learning and experiences, we help children grow with respect, understanding, and appreciation for all cultures. As we continue to reflect on our collective understanding of what reconciliation means, we will continue to work alongside children, families, and educators to explore how we can reflect on and actively contribute to our reconciliation journey in our daily practice.

By respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in everyday learning experiences, and by exploring and learning about local Aboriginal history and culture with children in age-appropriate ways, we will continue to grow in our understanding of reconciliation.
