We, at Showgrounds Children's Centre, believe that reconciliation means coming together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as a community to continue to educate ourselves, our children and families to gain a deeper understanding of Australia's First Peoples, teir cultures and histories.
This understanding will support us to create and foster relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people so that we can work together to create better opportunities and more equitable outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Reconciliation is an ongoing journey to which we are committed to undertake as we strive to respectfully and meaningfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our educational program, create a culturally safe and responsive environment for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families who attend or visit our centre and as we work towards a reconciled Australia, informing ourselves on issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Islander people.
