Our vision for reconciliation is to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations peoples of Australia and to ensure that all children, families, educators, and stakeholders feel a genuine sense of belonging and strong connections with community and Country. At Wagga Wagga Early Years Learning Centre, reconciliation means coming together to address inequality and inequity, while fostering understanding, sharing history, and celebrating the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. In partnership with families, community organisations, educators, and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, we strive to create an environment that is inclusive, respectful, and celebratory of all cultures. Our daily practices, programs, and curriculum reflect this vision, ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are recognised and valued in meaningful ways. We actively consult with and learn from local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to strengthen connections and embed their perspectives into our curriculum and service practices. We acknowledge and respect the unique connection that the Traditional Custodians, the Wiradjuri People, have to the Land on which our service is situated. Through these connections, we aim to build genuine, respectful relationships with all children and families in our service community. We are committed to ongoing learning, reflection, and professional development to continually grow as a service, ensuring our practices remain culturally safe, inclusive, and supportive for everyone.
