Our vision for reconciliation is acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations people of Australia and for all stakeholders in our service to feel a sense of belonging and strong connections with community and Country.
Reconciliation at Wagga Wagga Early Years Learning Centre Turvey Park means coming together to overcome inequality, inequity, while sharing understandings, history and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
In partnership with families, community organisations, educators and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, we aim to provide an environment that is inclusive of all cultures. Our everyday practices and curriculum will reflect a vision of acceptance and respect where all cultures are celebrated for what they are. This will be achieved through connecting and consulting with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous families and children. We will visibly respect and acknowledge the unique connection that Traditional Custodians, the Wiradjuri People, have to the Land on which our service is situated and to build genuine, respectful relationships with all children and families who are part of our service. We are committed to ongoing education and learning to continually update our knowledge and practices and grow as a service together.
