Our vision at ECTARC The Basin Education and Care service is to be a community that acknowledges, respects and appreciates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their cultures and the Land. We are committed to educating children, community and ourselves about the injustice, adversity and the true Australian history that First Nations people lived through and still face today.
At The Basin we are continually working to form a stronger, more genuine and respectful relationships with community and the local First Nations People. We aim for all staff to feel confident, able and knowledgeable enough to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and ways of living as this contributes to The Basin being a culturally safe place. It is a value at ECTARC The Basin that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children see parts of their culture and identity reflected positively around them whilst in attendance.
