We, at Helensburgh Community Preschool, proudly walk towards reconciliation and respect the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn, play and grow, the Wodi Wodi people of the Dharawal Nation. Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that embraces unity, equality, dignity, and respect towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
As Educators, we are committed to ongoing learning of First Nations peoples’ cultures, traditions, histories, and continuing contributions. We strive to respectfully embed our learnings into the service through the sharing of knowledge in programs, Community engagement, and our interactions with children.
We acknowledge the past and the trauma caused to the Traditional Custodians of the Lands, and through education, we believe in working together with children, families, and wider community, to drive reconciliation and empower future generations.
We will create a welcoming and culturally responsive environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to feel safe, secure, and respected. As a community, we believe that we each must engage in truth telling and social advocacy to ensure all children have the best opportunities in life.
