We are continually working towards developing our own and the children and families’ understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures through building respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community. We believe this is the way in which children gain an in depth understanding of the true history and present experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
At Excelsior we have formed connections with Murr Mittigar which is a local First Nations community representative. Steph from Muru Mittigar has attended the centre to engage with both educator and children in place-based experiences relevant to the Dharug ways of knowing, being and doing.
We believe that building relationships with local Aboriginal and Torries Strait Islander communities is best done with respect.
The educators at Excelsior engage in relevant training being mindful it is provided by appropriate provides.
