Our vision at Lalor Park Preschool is to ensure the provision of high quality, inclusive, culturally appropriate education and care for both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people. We recognise our role is significant in working towards reconciliation in Australia.
As a community value learning about the histories, achievements, ceremonies, and diverse cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In learning from past and intergenerational injustices, we can use that knowledge to ensure we build respectful, equitable relationships with all families within the community. We are committed to supporting all educators within the service to deepen their understanding of reconciliation through professional training opportunities and continued reflection on our service policies and practices.
Educators will respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into curriculum, and we strive to provide a curriculum and environment that is culturally rich and responsive, supporting wellbeing and recognition for all First Nations peoples.
We will continue to build meaningful connections with Aboriginal Elders to further guide our services path in reconciliation.
