Twinkle Tots Cottage has a vision for reconciliation which places importance on recognising and valuing the personal and social narratives, legacies and cultural conventions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We strive to actively practice our vision for reconciliation in our daily practices, curriculum and pedagogies to ensure our children learn the rich and diverse cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We aim to build strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations through engaging respectfully with First Nations Elders, peoples and communities. On this we recognise and learn from the Darug and Guringai Peoples and acknowledge the extensive knowledge and contributions they have made and continue to make within community we gather. Twinkle Tots strongly believe in the reconciled future of Australia, actively recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations peoples of Australia. We wish to actively listen to the voices of staff, children and families who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, to make sure they feel a sense of belonging and form strong connections to the service community. We will strive to create a culturally responsive place, so this is experienced by staff, and their cultural identity is respected. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children are further nurtured to feel empowered, so they can use their voice to create a positive change in the world. We endeavour to make respectful connections with local First Nations peoples and organisations to support teaching and learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and languages .
