Turramurra Kindergarten envisions a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultures and contributions are deeply respected and valued by all Australians. We acknowledge First Nations peoples enduring resilience in the face of historical and current injustices and recognise their Traditional Custodianship of the Lands across Australia, with cultural practices dating back over 60,000 years. Our commitment to reconciliation is woven into every aspect of our kindergarten. We strive to create an environment where every child thrives, learning and growing in a setting that respects and engages with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures and knowledge. This includes teaching about First Nations peoples, histories, and cultures, and promoting positive contemporary examples of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples contributions to society. Our Reconciliation Action Plan builds on these principles, emphasising respectful collaboration, advocacy, and relationship building within our community between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and our center community and across the early childhood sector. We are dedicated to turning our commitments into meaningful actions that foster respect, equality, and equity, and promote cultural responsiveness for a brighter future for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children in our care.
