VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Gardiner Early Education Centre's vision for reconciliation is to create a culturally safe place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all people. As a service we strive to contribute towards a fair, equitable, equal and inclusive Australia through our educational program that evolves with the needs and interests of the children, families and broader community whilst embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, knowledge and perspectives. Our philosophy is that early education should embrace children's curiosity and support them to investigate the world around them without the pressures of stereotypes, discrimination, and judgement.

Our service is committed to reconciliation by understanding the true history in Australia and contributing to its progress by respectfully embedding reconciliation in the hearts of the current and next generations of Australians shaping our shared future. Partnerships are at the heart of our philosophy and play a crucial part in developing a child's sense of wellbeing. We believe strong relationships between educators, children's families and First Nations communities are fundamental in maintaining an early childhood setting that gives children a sense of belonging, being and becoming.

Educators will be respectful and sensitive to the differences of the children, families, and colleagues they work with. Gardiner Early Education Centre acknowledges Waverley Council’s vision for reconciliation and observes its values and mission statement.
