At O’Connor Primary our vision for reconciliation is to embrace and enhance the unity between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians. Our inclusive learning environments foster equity, understanding and connections to surrounding cultures and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We promote cultural responsiveness both inside and outside of the classroom with staff, students, and community members. We uphold anti-racism approaches and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are provided with equal opportunities to achieve their academic outcomes. We continue to share knowledge and resources between our school and community members by sharing our learning about language, providing cultural awareness training, and engaging in immersive incursions and on Country experiences with Traditional Custodians. We aim to continue connections with schools, community, and country into the future. In the classroom, we are dedicated to facilitating learning experiences that include cross-curriculum priorities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in all learning areas. Together, we continue to strive for reconciliation and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for all cultures.
