Fremantle Language Development Centre’s vision for reconciliation is to strengthen our shared understanding of the concepts of cultural safety and cultural responsiveness.
We will be committed to learning, valuing and respecting the stories, histories, cultures and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We will foster a sense of belonging by actively acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples as the First Australians, the Traditional Owners of Lands across Country and connected to the oldest continuing cultures in the world.
We will be active in truth telling and respect for actions that value and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and strengths.
We will be committed to providing opportunities for staff to evaluate how our school is moving towards active reconciliation and ensure we are challenging our beliefs, our racism, and our learning to continue to grow.
We are committed to culturally responsive teaching that creates the conditions for all students to succeed.
We continue to connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, Elders, and community members as we lead our journey towards reconciliation.
We respect and nurture the Noongar Country on which our school stands on and are open to learning from Noongar traditions on how best to sustain this Land.
We will provide the platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to share their unique cultures and perspectives to inform the school learning environment
We will have an “open mind, an open heart and an open will” towards reconciliation.
