Our vision for reconciliation at St Benedict's College is to understand the continuing impact of colonial injustices and show respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their histories, cultures and languages through active participation in the community. We strive for equal and equitable opportunities for all and promote a sense of belonging that embraces cultural values and beliefs through our Benedictine ethos, particularly community, prayer and compassion.
We continue to build stronger connections with local First Nations communities as we deepen the knowledge and understanding of non-Indigenous students and staff about First Nations peoples’ stories. Werespectfully weave First Nations peoples' cultures and perspectives into our College through partnering with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, engaging with celebrations and Days of National Significance, and including First Nations perspectives within the curriculum.
St Bendict's College recognises and respects First Nations peoples' cultures, language and stories as a fundamental part of our core values and beliefs. We recognise the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our College stands and will continue to grow partnerships with local Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, sharing stories, values and knowledge.
