VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Bulimba State School, our vision for reconciliation is a unified, inclusive community where all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel acknowledged, respected, and represented. We are committed to building and maintaining strong, trusting relationships between First Nations peoples and non-Indigenous Australians, with a deep understanding of reconciliation as an ongoing journey.     We respect the cultural richness and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively work to ensure reconciliation is woven into the fabric of the school and wider community. Through continuous reflection and action, we aim to create a space where all individuals feel a sense of belonging, connection, and safety. We understand that reconciliation requires an honest acknowledgment of the past, and we honour this truth as we collectively move towards a united and stronger future.     This vision guides us in continuously developing culturally safe classrooms and outdoor spaces that celebrate the diverse voices, languages, and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Together, we are working towards a reconciled Australia where all people can be their true selves, free from bias, and empowered by inclusive, equal, and equitable education.     Our commitment to reconciliation extends beyond including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our curriculum, it means building meaningful partnerships with First Nations communities and learning about their rich cultures, histories, and traditions. We aim to provide opportunities for cultural exchange, education, and mutual respect between our school and the local First Nations community.  This vision serves as the foundation for our ongoing journey of reconciliation, knowing that each step forward brings us closer to a united, respectful, and inclusive future for all.
