VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Bracken Ridge State High School is committed to building a unified school that represents equality and equity, historical acceptance of Australian shared histories and removal of negative race relations and racism. We will respectfully talk with and listen to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, community leaders, families and students to deepen our learning about the many diverse and unique cultures, histories and perspectives Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  We will deepen our cultural understanding through inclusive curriculum and pedagogies that enhance cultural responsiveness and self-respect; and through our school cultural program we aim to build a sense of respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families.

It is vitally important for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families and staff to feel culturally supported, safe, proud and have access to equal and equitable educational and life opportunities.

We will respectfully engage and promote reconciliation with our whole school community through opportunities for all students to develop a connection and appreciation of the local land and environment, whilst exploring and understanding Australia's First Nation Peoples' cultures. knowledges, and perspectives. We will gather together, to listen to and learn from First Nations peoples to sustain relationships and build understandings.
