VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that is free of prejudice, and that both embraces and celebrates the cultures of First Nations peoples with respect. We continue to ensure that First Nations cultures are respectfully included within all parts of our school and wider community and authentically embedded into our curriculum.

We envision all people living in Australia holding an understanding of First Nations peoples, histories, cultures and stories. Where we strive for reconciliation together in unity. A reconciled Australia feels proud, respectful, inclusive and equitable.

Peninsula Grammar acknowledges that the School is located on the Land of the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultural perspectives, and ways of being and knowing. We accept that we have much to learn from the oldest continuous cultures on earth.

We believe reconciliation is an intentional process of learning and understanding where each of us can play our part. Working together, we can create a positive, respectful, and unified community and forge strong relationships with local First Nations people in the community to better understand the unique history of the local area. Working hand in hand, we can create an enriched society where everyone benefits.

We are committed to truth-telling about our shared histories. We acknowledge the impact of colonisation on First Nations peoples and the ongoing impacts of colonisation. We will continue to, through educating ourselves and others across our learning community, to gain a deeper understanding of how our shared histories have shaped First Nations peoples and cultures as we come together towards a united future.

With genuine commitment and open dialogue, we are optimistic that as a community we can move forward together to embrace reconciliation.
