VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Peak Sports and Learning Woonona East we are committed to learn from, with and about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s diverse cultures, heritages and perspectives as well as their history and contributions locally and nationally. Reconciliation is a fundamental part of our learning program. Our vision for our service is to embed and be committed to reconciliation through the development of respectful and positive relationships with not only the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families attending our service but also the wider community.

We acknowledge and recognise the importance of reconciliation is more than just celebrating the diversity within our service. It is about educating, influencing, and enabling our children with the opportunity to learn, question, research and reflect on the past that has shaped our national story and identity. We promote and highlight the significance of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia’s reconciliation journey, gain a deeper understanding of their story and how we move forward towards a united and better future for all. We collaboratively reflect and recognise the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture amongst our community at Woonona East.

In conjunction with the children, parents, families, school, and wider community, we are committed to valuing and providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where we can all connect, place value in one another's culture and strengthen our ties with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
