VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Parramatta East Public School, we acknowledge the Darug people, who are the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our school is built. Our vision for reconciliation is based on continuing to develop our understanding and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and perspectives. We acknowledge the truth of our past and look forward to an inclusive future where all Australians share pride in our social and cultural diversity and build on an active understanding of reconciliation.

We are committed to continuing the process of increasing awareness of the Burramattagal Clan, their cultures, histories and the contributions made by Australia’s First Nations People through respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives throughout our curriculum.

As life-long learners, our students, teachers, and families acknowledge that reconciliation is an ongoing journey. We strive to provide a culturally responsive  learning environment that reflects the values, beliefs, and practices of all families, while honouring the histories, traditions, and cultures of Australia’s First Nations peoples. We strive to respectfully continue to build genuine relationships with people of the Darug Nation to respectful relationships as we proactively advocate, promote, and engage in reconciliation.
