VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Westmead Public School we respect and acknowledge the Darug people, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and grow.     We honour, respect and value the histories, perspectives and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the everyday life of the school, through on-going, genuine actions.     We are committed to building strong, meaningful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities that honour and values First Nation people's voices.      We strive to develop a culturally responsive school community by providing learning opportunities for students, teachers and the community alike, that respectfully includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.     We recognise the crucial role of education as a means of Truth-telling and understanding the true histories of Australia. Through education we aim to empower all members of our community to proactively advocate and contribute towards equality, equity and reconciliation.
