VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Children's Montessori Centre, reconciliation is grounded in respect, understanding, and meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia.  As a Montessori service, we value every child as a capable and unique individual. We are committed to creating a peaceful, inclusive environment where all children and families feel a strong sense of belonging and connection. We acknowledge that reconciliation is a shared responsibility for all Australians. We are committed to embedding First Nations perspectives respectfully and meaningfully into our everyday curriculum.   Children engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives through storytelling, music, art, symbols, nature-based learning, and discussions about connection to Country. We support children to develop respect for the land they learn and play on and to understand the ongoing connections Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture, and community.   Our vision for reconciliation is to nurture children who grow with respect, empathy, and curiosity about the First Peoples of Australia. We aim to support children in developing a strong sense of responsibility for building a more inclusive, respectful, and reconciled future. We are committed to learning about and respecting the culture, history, and ongoing contributions of the Bunurong people, and supporting children to develop respect and care for Country through our Montessori program.
