For thousands of years First Nations peoples have cared for and educated children through strong connections to Country, community, and culture. Knowledge has been shared through storytelling, music, song, dance, art, and everyday experiences helping children learn how to care for the land and for one another. At Buttercups Early Learning Mandogalup we acknowledge and respect the Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land where we learn, play, and grow. We honour their continuing connection to Country, culture, and community. We believe children are capable and curious learners who can develop respect, kindness, and responsibility. We support children to learn about the true histories of Australia and the ongoing cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in ways that are meaningful and age appropriate. We are committed to building respectful relationships with First Nations peoples and communities. Through everyday learning, we include Noongar language, song, dance, storytelling, and First Nations peoples artwork so Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are valued, visible, and celebrated. We aim to create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices to guide our learning and decision-making. Through this commitment, we nurture a strong sense of Belonging, shared respect, and understanding for all children, families, and educators, and work together towards a fair, inclusive, and reconciled future.
