At Guardian Murwillumbah, we are committed to fostering learning environments that value and recognise the true histories, cultures, and perspectives of First Nations peoples. Our vision for reconciliation is to create an environment where children, families, and educators develop a deep respect for, and understanding of, the world's oldest living cultures and the ongoing connection of First Nations peoples to Country. This RAP will guide us in building authentic relationships, and provide a framework for embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives into our programs, ensuring that reconciliation becomes an active and visible part of our daily practice. We believe reconciliation should not be tokenistic but woven into our everyday practice in meaningful and authentic ways. This includes, creating a strong sense of belonging, which we will foster through working with and learning from Traditional Custodians to better understand First Peoples ways of knowing and being, such as the Bundjalung seasonal calendar, and understanding what living on Country means for our area. We aim to strengthen our understanding of the significance of the land and the local Bundjalung people and culture. Through these actions, we aim to nurture genuine understanding, respect, and connection with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and perspectives for all across our learning community.
