VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Brisbane Christian College Pre-Prep, we believe in unity and the power of Gods love to guide us on our reconciliation journey . We value inclusivity and seek to create a welcoming community where there are opportunities for everyone to develop and maintain meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, embracing these connections with open hearts and minds.      We acknowledge the ongoing impact of  injustices and the impact colonisation has, and continues to have on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through this recognition, we  are committed to fostering an environment that calls attention to the ongoing reliance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures by , teaching about the true histories and lived  experiences of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. This, in turn, will open pathways for reconciliation through growth, change, and learning. Through our curriculum and daily practices, we will continue to be open to working alongside educators, children  families and the community to develop a service that continues to grow in our respect, understanding, and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being.     We will work with Traditional Custodians to support everyone across our learning community to formdeeper appreciation for the Land, its First Peoples, and the wisdom embedded in their traditions.      To promote equality and equity we will continue to foster an environment that ensures there are opportunities for relationships building between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all  Australians through creating a culturally safe, responsive and respectful environments. We will continue  to cultivate a community where all voices are heard, differences are celebrated, and relationships are built on understanding, compassion, and mutual respect. Through these commitments, we aim to walk together in unity, reflecting Gods love and grace in all we do.  How good and pleasant it is when Gods people live together in unity!  Psalm 133:1  We recognise the continuing contribution that the Jagera people make to the life of Australia and pray that we can work together to leave a legacy of reconciliation, justice and hope for all future Australians.
