At YMCA Wyndham Vale Early Learning Centre our vision is to foster inclusivity and cultural respect to ensure equity and equality.
Through respectfully embedding First Nations perspectives in our program and environments and through broadening and sharing our knowledge with educators, children and their families, we aim to facilitate and support strong connections with First Nations community members.
Our aspiration is to deepen educators, children and families understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Custodians and the importance of their spiritual connection to the land, waterways, flora and fauna. We acknowledge First Nations People and their ways of being, and seek to empower the children and their families to be advocates for unity. . We recognise the opportunities for learning throughout the curriculum and environment at the YMCA Wyndham Vale and make a commitment to promote cultural understanding.
This RAP will demonstrate our endeavor to embrace opportunities for our educators to strengthen their understanding and to implement inclusive and respectful teaching strategies. We are committed to developing reciprocal relationships with the local Aboriginal communities to ensure there is mutual respect and understanding of the Wadawurrung Peoples culture and ways of being. We recognise the role the YMCA plays in promoting reconciliation and we aspire to create an environment that is culturally safe and fosters a sense of belonging for all.
