VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Palmwoods Early Learning Centre (PELC) recognises and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples on Gubbi Gubbi/ Kabi Kabi Land and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples across Australia. It is our vision to engage and build relationships with the local First Nations community to create opportunities for reconciliation.

It is our vision to embed our learnings learnt through consultations with the local First Nations community, to engage and share appropriate and correct information amongst our educators, families, and community with accurate and meaningful teaching and education opportunities with an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.

PELC is committed to reconciliation with a positive, clear vision for an equal and equitable Australia that is fair and just, that is reconciled, that provides equal opportunities and outcomes for all people.

PELC affirms and recognises that reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australian is the responsibility of non-Indigenous people.

PELC acknowledges the distinctive position of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of this Land.

We recognise and respect the connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with their traditional lands and waters, as well as their diverse cultures and histories, customs, circumstances and contributions.

Here at PELC, we are dedicated to actively implementing a Reconciliation Action Plan as a living framework that enables our service to take meaningful and mindful action, sustainably and strategically to advance reconciliation.

We aim for our service and our Narragunnawali RAP, to support the advancement of meaningful and active reconciliation amongst the community. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on this land and we commit to building two-way relationships to continue to move forward to close the gap through equality and equity, embracing race relations, Institutional Integrity, Unity and Historical acceptance.
