Our vision is to respect and acknowledge the unique connections that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with the Lands on which early learning centres across Australia are situated, and help to build genuine, respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and all children and families who attend our centre. We are committed to fostering the cultural safety of every child who attends our Centre. We will not tolerate racism or exclusion, and this is actioned in policy and processes within the centre. We support the rights of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including the right to self-determination, equality and equity. We believe that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. We will respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and perspectives within our service’s environment and pedagogical practices to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of First Nations Peoples’ voices, histories and contributions. In order to foster reconciliation and actively respect both personal and cultural difference and diversity, we all need to work together and form a bond that is not just culturally responsive but culturally rich, inclusive, accepting and proud.
