Our vision for reconciliation is to foster a safe, inclusive and respectful environment that celebrates and embraces the diversity of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander community. We believe in the importance of acknowledging and addressing the historical injustices faced by Australian First nations peoples that continue to impact them today, and we are committed to playing an active role in the process of healing and reconciliation.
We recognise that education is a powerful tool for reconciliation. We will incorporate age-appropriate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, histories and cultures into our curriculum to ensure that all children have the opportunity to develop a deep understanding and appreciation for Australia’s First Nations peoples’heritages and contributions. We will also provide ongoing culturally responsive training for our educators to create an inclusive learning environment.
We will actively seek partnerships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders and Knowledge Keepers. Through these partnerships we will promote meaningful connections between our children, families and First Nation People's cultures. We will invite the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to be a valued part of our learning community.
We will integrate reconciliation practices into our daily routines and centre policies. This includes incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and creating opportunities for children to engage in hand on activities that honor Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We will also encourage children to celebrate diversity, challenge stereotypes and promote respect for all cultures.
Recognising the strong connection between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the Land, we will foster a deep respect for the environment and encourage sustainable practices within our Center, We will educate children about the importance of caring for the Earth.
