At First 5 Years, our vision for reconciliation is for all team members and children to have an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures, and to embed this into our learning and community. We hope that through educating ourselves and the children in our care, we will also be able to educate the families and wider community around us about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and perspectives. We aim to provide a culturally safe environment that empowers all children, including First Nations children, to succeed and thrive. In alignment with our Centre values, to be Passionate, Empowering and Inclusive, we will include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives and cultures into our program and play. Through our work at First 5 Years, we aim to continue to develop equal and equitable educational opportunities, open dialogues and respectful relationships with First Nations people. We will respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our practice and create a more connected and respectful community.
