VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

The Emmikins community is committed to reconciliation along with increasing staff, children and the wider communitys awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories and cultures.  We acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners, the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, on whose Land this centre is built.    We are excited to be a part of a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised and celebrated as being Australia's First Peoples. We will provide opportunities to learn about First Nation peoples stories and to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples wisdom, traditions, and cultures.  We will continue to respectfully share knowledge gained with the Emmikins community through inclusive and responsive early childhood programs, environments, curriculum, and daily interactions with our children, educators, and families.    We will build mutually respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and the wider community and embrace all concepts and ideas about reconciliation with an open heart and mind.   Thus, gaining an enriched appreciation of Australias Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage that will lead us to reconciliation. This is essential to the maturity of Australia as a nation and fundamental to the development of Australian identity.
