OAK on Erin's vision for reconciliation is an Australia where the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples is based on equality, equity, and respect.
We aspire to see Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures to being actively valued by all Australians. We wish for trusting relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all people to be established, and for social inequalities to be eradicated.
OAK on Erin is committed to maintaining our RAP, with the vision for continuing to foster a place where children, educators, families and community work together to work towards creating an equitable and equal service and Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples 60,000+ year-old cultures and continuing connections to Country are actively respected and meaningfully valued. .
This RAP outlines practical actions that will move OAK on Erin closer to reconciliation, through establishing and maintaining trusting and respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the local communities in which we work.
We will continue to be aspirational and innovative in our actions and the unique Goals and Deliverables we set, with an ongoing focus on developing and strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the local community, inviting all staff and stakeholders to engage in reconciliation and developing initiatives that teach all children and educators to be culturally aware and responsive as immersed in reconciliation.
Our RAP will help educators, children, families and the local community who make up Story House Early Learning, to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures; our shared history; and wellbeing inequalities experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families today, as a result of colonisation. We are committed to improving our practices through learning about the ongoing strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, and through this understanding, we will continue to empower everyone across our learning community to make an active contribution to reconciliation.
