We believe in acknowledging and teaching, through play, the true histories of Australia we can promote a sense of understanding of, connection with, and respect for Australia’s First Nations peoples, and for the Land which we care for and learn and play on. We will ensure we actively recognise and respect the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, understanding that these is part of our shared history and central to working towards a connected, respectful and reconciled society into the future.
At Busy Bees Banksa Grove, we are committed to raising awareness about reconciliation, with the goal of encouraging all people in the broader community to embrace reconciliation and work towards reparation and healing in the relationship between non-Indigenous Australians and the Land’s First Peoples. We will demonstrate this through: developing a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and learning; respectfully reflecting that knowledge at all levels of our service; strengthening equal and equitable access to our service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families; and developing genuine, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to foster a sense cultural safety for all in our community.
We acknowledge the RAP is a continual process and we will add to it and grow individually, as a team and as an organisation. Our commitment mirrors our values of respect for diversity, inclusion, advocating the rights of children, justice, honesty and courage.
We pay and extend our respects to Elders both past, present and emerging as well as to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
