Nido Early School Truganina’s vision for reconciliation begins with ensuring that educators, children and families within our learning community have a holistic understanding of the histories, shared experiences, and rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. .
Our vision is a future of mutually respectful and genuine two-way relationships between our school community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians. We visualise a fair, inclusive, impartial and culturally respectful community that stands with First Nation’s peoples; in recognition, participation, equity and acknowledgment as essential to Australia’s national identity.
Early education is a pathway to a reconciled Australia, building cultural capacity to further equitable relationships and mutual cultural participation. Supporting these objectives, our RAP encompasses a variety of actions and goals to support this ongoing development.
Here, we will focus on integrating equality, equity and unity among each other, building cultural responsiveness through professional development, engaging in ongoing cultural consultations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, and continuous relationships and connections with Elders, families and organisations in our community.
The National Quality Framework underpins our vision of reconciliation through the Principles of the National Framework where cultures are valued and Being, Belonging, and Becoming are promoted by paying respect to diversity. In the spirit of reconciliation, we understand the need to build a strong connection between local First Peoples and Nido Community that enables life in this place to flourish together.
