VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

McAuley College’s vision for reconciliation sees a future where Australians of all backgrounds are united, guided by the touchstones of Believe, Learn, and Serve. We respectfully stand on the Traditional Lands of the Mununjali People. We recognise and value their wisdom and acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on Country, weaving a tapestry that embraces acceptance, connectedness, and understanding. Committed to bridging divides, we acknowledge past wrongs, making amends through respectful action, story-sharing and strengthening Mununjali relationships.

In alignment with the values of Catherine McAuley and the deep knowledge of the Mununjali community, we prioritise justice, faith, love, and wisdom in our reconciliation journey. Through this living Mercy, we promote inclusivity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, ensuring every voice is heard, ultimately championing equal and equitable opportunities and a ‘fair go’ for all. We honour Mununjali's history and the true histories of First Nations people across the land, now called Australia. We are privileged to continue a journey grounded in Truth-telling. Our path to reconciliation involves ongoing learning guided by reflection, fostering a just, united future and we nurture a culturally responsive learning environment promoting empathy and understanding.

We accept the call to put on our boots, like the Sisters of Mercy, and walk alongside the Mununjali People, acknowledging their resilience and ongoing cultural contributions, to foster reconciliation. We recognise the strength of Australia's First Peoples who never ceded sovereignty of this Land and who graciously continue to share their languages and cultures. As we walk on our reconciliation journey, we recognise and respect the enduring spirit of the Mununjali Ancestors.

Our vision is for a united future, where the richness of diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures is celebrated, becoming a source of strength. Our journey acknowledges Mununjali's Spirit—a place of unity, acceptance, and mutual respect. Every individual is empowered to Believe, Learn, and Serve, contributing to a reconciled, flourishing community.
